Get more from Membrain Forms with hidden fields, default values & more

Update on November 5, 2022 by Brenda McDonald

Membrain's in-built Forms feature is quickly becoming Sales & Marketing teams' best friend. Using Membrain Forms on your website to generate new prospects from visitors is an immensely powerful tool, especially in today's uncertain market.

With this in mind, we've added some new capabilities to Membrain Forms, so you can get more information into Membrain through auto-generated Prospects, giving your team more meat to follow up with on new Leads.

Newest updates include:
  • Default Value Fields - useful when you want to ensure certain info is always included in a Form
  • Overwrite fields already populated in Membrain - helpful when data needs to be updated via a form submission
  • Populate fields via data passed to the form via the query string
  • Hidden Fields

Other previous updates you won't want to miss:
  • Enable/disable the Beacon on a Form - handy when you do not want to track/auto-fill the form user
  • Customizable text for the Submit button
  • Use the Contact List to filter on who has/hasn't completed a form
  • Send notifications to Teams, Slack or Membrain Guide when a new Form is submitted

Of course, generating new prospects is not the only use for Membrain Forms. They are a great way to keep in contact with your customers for other cases like using Forms for a Customer Satisfaction Survey, Contact Us form on your website, a Poll ahead of a demo or presentation of your products and services, or a Quality Survey to capture feedback after you've implemented a project.

All of the above improvements can be used for any kind of Form. What do you use Forms for? We'd love to hear!

Control Your Numbers With Decimal Options and % Mode

Update on November 5, 2022 by Brenda McDonald

Working with numbers isn't always the most fun part of a career in Sales. But getting the data right, and presenting it with clarity is important so everyone is on the same page.

This one is for the data geeks out there that want to be able to do more with the numbers stored in Membrain. We've made it possible to apply decimals to Number and Currency fields, along with adding percentages to Number fields - so you can get right down to the specifics of the data that drives your business.

Some ways this can be used:

  • Add more granularity to order quantities in Sales Projects
  • Use % for percentage values like Commission Rates % for the Sales Project Owner, Profit Margin %, Discount Rate % etc.
  • Apply these values to Calculation fields to add intelligence and insights to your workflows
  • Import and export complex data sets with more control
  • Plus lots more...

In what ways could you use these new updates in your Membrain account? We'd love to hear your feedback!  Reach out to us at support@membrain.com and we'll be ready to brainstorm some ideas with you.

Capitalize on new ways to track ROI in Products

Update on October 16, 2022 by Brenda McDonald

Membrain's Products tool is one of the most popular elements of our Sales Analytics features, and it's no surprise as to why. Products allows for the tracking of the individual products and services you sell, as well as in-depth reporting on expected revenue - not just closing dates.

We're excited to announce that we've just added a whole new set of metrics to measure in Products. Read on to find out more!

Products already offers the tracking of products and services your business provides, along with details like Expected Revenue dates, Fixed or Recurring pricing and Quantities (both additive and non-additive). It also has a handy quoting tool, which means professional pricing options can be directly to customers, straight from a sales project. This new update offers more in-depth tracking and analysis of the products and services you sell, giving you more flexibility and control, with additional insights into the value your products and services bring to your business.

  • Costs and Profit tracking - The revenue each product generates is important to track, but equally important can be the ability to track the cost against that revenue. This opens up a world of new reporting possibilities, for example Profit margins, Cost analysis, and insights into the ROI your products generate.

  • Discounts - Love them or loathe them, discounts can often be a big part of closing a deal. With that in mind, we've added the ability to apply a discount as a percentage or as an absolute amount to each product offering you have. Either as a default, or something the salesperson can enter, ad-hoc, means its very flexible and easy to use, and report on.

Use Views on Go for a New Perspective

Update on October 16, 2022 by Ryan Chartrau

salespeople have always enjoyed looking at information about their prospects from new and exciting angles; it's just that before computers were invented, they had to do so by spinning spreadsheets in various directions.

Then technology (such as Membrain) came along, and frustrated salespeople could finally focus on what was important when it was important…

So long as they could get their hands on a computer, anyway. If they were out in the field, they were out of luck. That wasn't such a big deal at the time, but things are different now. Today’s salespeople aren't tethered to their desks. Instead, they travel from location to location to meet with prospects, and they expect real-time information to be available from a mobile device.

Luckily, we aim to please, and so we’re especially pleased to announce the release of Views on Membrain Go.

From here on out, it doesn't matter whether they’re in the same building or even the same country, every member of the sales team will have access to all the same views and filters previously configured via desktop, making it easy to see everything they need without going into the office.

To get started, download Membrain Go and start using the app today! If you're new to views, you can learn your way around by navigating over to our help center.

Add Color to your data for instant insights

Update on October 16, 2022 by Brenda McDonald

Color plays an important role in creating mood, conveying information, and even influencing the decisions we make. As a salesperson, adding color to the data you rely on everyday can transform it into something that is more tangible, so you can see what's important in an instant.

We think you're going to be tickled pink with this new update, which allows you to add customizable colors for Single Select and Multi Select drop down lists.

The result is core data that pops with color and insights

Of course, Membrain already embraces color in areas such as Health Statuses, Scorecards, and Dashboards that have standardized colors for consistency across multiple graphs. With this upgrade, you now have more control over the colors you use in Dashboarding, AND the ability to show a new range of colors coded fields in various areas of Membrain :

1. Take control over which colors you use in Dashboard Graphs. Up until now, Membrain did the decision making on applying colors to your data. Now you can customize the colors related to key metric options like Country, Industry or Vertical and visualize them in Dashboards that make sense to your business.

2. Apply colors to other key views across Membrain

There are so many ways these colors can be put to work, for example -

⚡ Highlight areas that are high risk, like Competitors and use scaling colors to represent the level of concern

⚡ Update a Customer Current Status field after a site visit to show their happiness/unhappiness with a the state of an ongoing project

⚡ Alert your Business Development Team and encourage them to only work on new leads from well suited locations

And of course, this is all easily visible in various places in Membrain, like the project steps themselves, as well as Lists, hovers etc.

We hope you enjoy this improvement, and are excited to add a splash more color to your day. Check out how Custom Fields can be easily upgrade to show colors with this Help Center Article - Creating Custom Fields

Add Company Level Goals to Track Your Overall Progress

Update on October 16, 2022 by Ryan Chartrau

Within the next three months, where do you hope to see your company’s bottom line? How, precisely, is it going to get there?

You know you should be engaging a wider audience and retaining a larger client base, but setting your sights on a particular target is the easy part; figuring out whether or not you're on pace to hit it... well, that's what Membrain was built to do. As a result, you can start setting measurable goals right out of the box, and you and your sales team can track your efforts in real time using visually appealing bar charts.

The problem is, what happens if someone leaves the team? Their personal pipeline can almost seem to vanish into thin air, making it significantly more difficult to determine what should happen next or allocate the budget for the coming year.

But we here at Membrain are well aware that knowing how you or your team are performing isn’t enough to measure company success over the long run. You need to see the big picture.

That’s why we’re now offering Company Level Goals. With this update, you’re more than free to monitor the success of individual employees and teams; if you're up for it, you can assign goals across your entire Membrain Instance, and determine the right moves for the business overall.

By mapping out where you want to go and how you’ll get there, you’ll get there faster. Check out this detailed tutorial to get started off on the right foot today.

More detail in Qualifiers = more clarity for everyone

Update on September 26, 2022 by Brenda McDonald

The ability to Qualify, and perhaps more importantly Disqualify, Prospects and Sales Projects early in your Pipeline is a skill that takes time to master. This update to Qualifiers throughout Membrain offers more context and guidance to the sales team, resulting in more clarity around Qualifiers for everyone.

Qualifiers have always been an integral part or Membrain's Prospecting and Pipeline Management tools. They are designed to help Sales People only qualify Prospects that are a good fit, and ensure those opportunities that do make it into the pipeline are flagged as a concern, if needed, as they make their way through the process.

This update means a Name and Descriptive text can now be added to Qualifiers, allowing Sales Leaders embed more detail into the process and give Qualifiers a more "human" feel that people can resonate with.

But its not only the customizable name that gives a deeper understanding as to why the Qualifier prompts a red, yellow, blue or green indicator. Additional Descriptions can be used to give more context or as a powerful coaching tool, suggesting what to do in certain situations and offering up advice for possible next steps.

We're excited to hear your feedback on how you might use this new feature to support your team and guide them towards success. Please reach out to us if you'd like to bounce some ideas, or if you would like some help getting started. We'd love to hear from you!

Keep stakeholders in the loop with automatic emails from process events

Update on September 24, 2022 by Brenda McDonald

At Membrain, we're all about streamlining workflows, working smart, and helping your day run as smoothly as possible. So with that in mind, we've made it possible to send emails to stakeholders automatically... when the time and situation is right.

Of course, most of us appreciate that emails are best received when they are written with one person or project in mind.

Disclaimer: if you believe sending 100's of generic emails to a contact list in the hope that something might stick is a good strategy, then please stop reading now!

But if done well, there can be place for well written templates and automated emails where an update or nudge along the way is needed, after a certain event has occurred.

So how does this new feature work?

Saving time with email templates is one thing, but taking the next step to configure Membrain to know when to send the email is a whole new level. Using Automated Events in your Prospecting, Sales Projects, or Account Growth Projects as the trigger to send an email makes this an easy tool to configure. Additionally, you choose who you want the email to be sent from, giving you that extra control you want.

And when is it best used?

There are so many great use cases where this can be very powerful. Lets take a look at just some examples of how this can make you and your team super efficient:

  • When a project is Won - send an automatic email to the Decision Maker to say thank you for their business, or perhaps include relevant information from The Content Hub
  • When a project is Archived - reach out to your Main Contact and ask for feedback - even include a Membrain Form for completion
  • When a Quote is sent - send additional agreement info or pdf's related to the quote
  • Or create a step simply for triggering an email, and use Conditions to only send to certain stakeholders with certain interests, from a certain industry, or at a certain stage in the process

Excited to give it a try?

We know this new feature is going to make a lot of sales people very happy, so pop straight over to the Help Center and learn how Automated Events can work even harder for you.

And of course, if you need any help getting started, just reach out to us and we'll be ready to help get you started.

Stop Problems Before They Start with New "Rules Triggered" Graph For Dashboards

Update on August 14, 2022 by Ryan Chartrau

To everyone writing in these past few weeks, first of all… thanks for reaching out! Second of all, thank you for being patient, and sorry for keeping you waiting. We here at Membrain have been busy putting together a spreadsheet of all your most burning questions, then assembling an elite team of data scientists to inspect the spreadsheet for us. It wasn’t easy (or cheap), but at long last, we’ve got your answers.

In order of most frequently asked, many customers wanted to know why they couldn’t create graphs based on “rules triggered”. They seemed to think it'd be nice if you could see which red and yellow flags were being consistently triggered inside Membrain, and maybe even narrow the results down by specific teams and users.

Rules Triggered

Something along these lines...

A few others wanted to know what they should have for lunch. To this latter group, we feel confident saying that you can’t go wrong with an avocado club sandwich.

That first question though? Turned out to be a little stickier. Our fancy new data scientists were stumped, so we fired them and got back to doing what we do best, developing awesome new features to simplify your data needs. Before too long, we had something to announce, and this blog post is how we’re doing it…

From here on out, you can create graphs based on rules triggered. Using dashboards, you can now easily visualize what’s turning projects red, and perhaps more importantly, figure out how to stop it from happening.
