Improvements to Org charts & a few other smaller updates

Update on April 9, 2024 by Henrik Öquist

As we move through 2024, time seems to be flying! Let's take a quick look at the latest product updates we've made to help you work smarter and more efficiently.

Org Chart expands to complex company structures

image-png-Mar-29-2024-12-13-02-4983-AM

When working with really large or complex company structures, having a good understanding of how the organization is set up is absolutely vital.

Membrain now let's you connect contacts from subsidiaries a lot easier than before, and you can expand and collapse these relationships to give an unprecedented overview, without ever having to leave the org chart you're in.

When working at it from the CRM data side of things, you can also edit "reports to" from a contact list view, both on individual contacts, but also batch changes to quickly work through larger structures.

Other smaller updates

  • Better handling of private activities in the activity stream, the information now is really locked down and you can only see that you are part in a private meeting at a certain time. That's it. 🙌

  • You can now use Snippets in Membrain Go in Appointments, Notes, Tasks and similar places. A great timesaver while on the Go! 🏃

Early 2024 round-up of Membrain updates!

Update on March 9, 2024 by Henrik Öquist

Maybe it's because of the extra leap day in 2024, because this year has already seen so many exciting additions and improvements to Membrain! Even outside of the bigger updates to Membrain (such as huge permissions improvements, email auto-saving updates, improved revenue analytics, personalization capabilities that can be used for light-weight quote-like emails and much more) our team has kept busy.

Product Update-1

Email Templates & Snippets

Email Templates & Snippets are not only awesome time-savers and productivity boosters, they're also great for giving everyone on the team an easy way to keep your messaging on point, quickly respond to common questions and follow-up in a professional way after meetings. The number of templates and snippets can quickly become daunting to navigate though, which is why we added support for categories for both of these. Quickly create categories sales follow-ups, billing questions, common questions, structured agendas for your discovery calls and much more.

Stronger Ticked-related communications

The Membrain Ticket system now uses the ticket number (looks like T#1234) in even more ways, to more easily keep everybody up-to-date on key issues and queries from customers, even from people who was not initially a part of the ticket.

Working with larger accounts?

Working with larger accounts where multiple people should ideally be mapped out to give you the best conditions for success? You can now show in a company list view and filter on the "Number of Contacts" created on a company. Great to use in combination with previous insights like Number of Stakeholders in a sales context!

An easier way to send 'submission reciepts'

We're really excited to see Membrain Forms are being used more and more in all kinds of exciting ways! An ask that came up a number of times is a simple way of sending a "submission receipt" of sorts to the person filling out a form. While automation can be great for more advanced nurturing sequences and such, now you can set this simpler flow up with just a few quick clicks!

More control over process editing permissions

Process is deeply engrained in what we do, so we're pumped about seeing this used in more and more ways. One thing that can get tricky is if you want to be able to give somebody the ability to edit just one or two processes, not all. For this reason, you can now change "Editable By" on a process level to have full control over who in the team is able to make updates to a process.

These and many more updates have all gone live in just the last few weeks! 2024 has started in a powerful way, and we're excited to have even more and bigger updates lined up going forward. Keep the great feedback coming! Let's make this year the best year ever for b2b sales!

As always, if you have any questions or feedback about this update, please do not hesistate to drop us a line at support@membrain.com and we'll be happy to help!

Easier Email Auto-save & Auto-relate - with more control & clarity

Update on March 3, 2024 by Henrik Öquist

Automating activity reporting is a huge load off a sales person's shoulders, but it can be tricky to get right, and to clearly understand how it's working.
For this reason we have made a big update in the auto save/relate-department! Auto-save is now handled separately from the auto-relate to make it easier to choose exactly what you want to automatically save in Membrain.

To make sure we're not adding any stress to your week, we kept a key aspect of the old system so that you can make any potential tweaks at a time of your own choosing.

wts-png

Once you feel you want to explore this though, you can do so as an Admin by going to System Setup and click on the new option of "Email Auto Save Settings". There you can now select which (or all) of the processes that you want the auto save to look at, as well as manage a list of email adresses that you want to exclude from this automation.

Once an activity is created in Membrain, that's when the auto-relate kicks, and with an updated interface there, it should make this complex capability a little clearer to follow, and allow for some more creative uses on how you want to relate activities in variety of ways and contexts.

Whenever an email is auto-saved, you can also open the saved activity up in Membrain and quickly spot when, why and by whom it was saved, giving you quick insights into how the setup is working in your environment.

Product Revenue List Graphs - Add an option to combine recurrences

Update on February 27, 2024 by Henrik Öquist

Revenue. The lifeblood of any company. A key aspect to track, navigate and report on in a variety of ways for any B2B organization committed to growth. Given its importance it *should* be simple to do. Alas, it's a more complex metric than many. It's not always as easy to get right as one would like.

Our recent update to Product Revenue Graphs now give you a lot of flexibility in how you want to present revenue data from Products in Membrain.

💡 Want to see what future revenue you secured in a specific month or quarter? Check!
💡 Want to change perspective and instead see what revenue is actually coming in the next 3 months, including those multi-year contracts you closed in sales projects over a year ago that is still bringing it in? Absolutely!
💡 Want to group it and see it by Product? Yep!
💡 Or did you want to see which products a certain customer has bought and that is still generating revenue? No problem!

Create any product revenue graph, be it column graphs, line graphs and the recent addition of list graphs. Use the various visualization options to distinguish between sales targets and revenue. (A key tip is: If you want to see recurring products split up over time, use "group by" or "segment by" revenue date to easily access that info!

To make this as quick and easy to get to as possible, we also updated the Template Library with some new graphs to make it as easy as possible to pick the best starting point and make any desired optional tweaks to it. Simply go to your dashboard, create a new graph and go to the Product Revenue category. There you will find some helpful list graphs to use to instantly get new insights about that hugely important key data point: revenue.

Change how User and Process scoping works when combining multiple permission groups

Update on February 21, 2024 by Henrik Öquist

Ensuring everyone on the team has the right information is always a challenge. You don't want to lock things down too much, but also need to be responsible as an organization with what information is shared with whom.

To help with this the permission capabilities of Membrain has improved in the update that recently went live. You now have a lot more precision when adding people to multiple permission groups.

product-update-blog-more-permission-tools (1)-modified (1)With this change it's a lot easier to understand and follow what happens when you combine several permission groups to allow for things like letting somebody have full access to create, edit and collaborate in a sales project in Process A, but only have view permissions in Process B and C.

We also added a new tool that give Membrain Admins a way to ensure the permissions are working the right way. By going to the "More" menu as an admin you can now click on the "Show who can access" to get a visual like this:

To help you dive deeper into the potential unlocked by this change, we have created a helpful article you can find through this handy link right here.

A new power move: "Product Personalization" in Email Templates

Update on January 16, 2024 by Henrik Öquist

With our most recent update to email personalization, you can now infuse details about Products as easily as somebody's first name.

Product Update Infuse Product Details

Prices, quantities, discounts, and more directly into your emails. Isolate key information like the total price, or set it up in nice and tidy tables outlining every detail as desired. It's not just an email; it's a really well-packaged and tailored piece of helpful content for your existing and potential customers.

If you pair this personalized content with an email-style template? Well now, your emails don’t just convey information; they showcase your brand. Incorporate logos, colors, and branding seamlessly to make every communication a visual delight. If you already have templates used by your marketing team, the code for these can easily be copied/pasted right inside Membrain.

So how can this be used, you ask?

Example 1: The Follow-up / light-weight Proposal

Product update tailored proposal

Picture this: You've just had an in-depth sales conversation with a potential client, now you can use all the vital information from inside the sales project, including product information available right from a ready-made template. A Company/Contact view that adapts to your needs

Update on January 9, 2024 by Henrik Öquist

With Membrain's new update, you can now curate the information displayed on your CRM pages. Show and hide custom field groups based on relevance, ensuring that only the information you need is at your fingertips. For this reason we recently released the ability to show and hide groups of custom fields on both companies and contacts.

Having full control over your data is key in this day and age, and as we enter a new year, the need for this is not going to be less in 2024 and beyond. You can control this in the custom field views in your system setup page on both company and contact views.

As always, here are some ideas on how you can use this to your advantage:

Scenario 1: Customer Specific information

For existing customers, dive deep into pertinent details without overwhelming the interface. What did they purchase? Current agreement terms? The number of locations? Tailor your CRM to reveal critical company-level insights only when needed.

Scenario 2: Contact-Level Tiers

Streamline your contact profiles by displaying specific custom fields based on stakeholder tiers. Gather essential insights on primary stakeholders without inundating your CRM with redundant information across thousands of contacts.

Scenario 3: Marketing Insight Precision

Target contacts who engage with your marketing content. Unveil custom fields showcasing marketing insights exclusively for those who downloaded offers, participated in webinars, or interacted with your website. It's personalized, strategic, and efficient.

This update isn't just about features; it's about empowering you to wield your CRM with precision. Say goodbye to clutter, embrace customization, and elevate your CRM experience with Membrain.

4 Updates to Wrap Up The Year

Update on December 19, 2023 by Henrik Öquist

Wow, it's December! For many in the sales space, this is an intense and sometimes stressful time of year. The end of the year finalizes key metrics and numbers for us, for better and for worse.

We hope that you as Membrain customer has had a great year, and that our products have been a part of that, and that you're as excited for what 2024 holds as we are. This will be the final update for Membrain for the year 2023, and it has a lot of goodies in it!

We have some big things like the massively extended product personalization options and conditional custom field groups on both companies and contacts (more coming up on those on this blog shortly!) but we also have a bunch of other improvements that we'll summarize for you in this little digest. Let's dive in!

You can now use "Permission Groups" to share views, dashboards, templates and more

Adding this new dimension on top of the team and individual perspective opens up options like sharing a view with a certain department, or role. Let's say for example:

  • A certain view, email template, or snippet is useful for somebody in operations? Share it with that permission group.
  • A part of the Account Growth project is mostly important to the Key Account Manager but somebody else on the team only needs a condensed view, make a section available to the permission group that your KAM team is using
  • You're doing a competition among your business development teams and want to have a dashboard for specifically those teams, and make it available to the permission group that those teams use.

This also hopefully addresses the many cases where there was sometimes a desire to have somebody be in multiple teams to get the right access to things in Membrain. Now, you can add permission groups and have a new level of control and flexibility.

To have access to this capability you need to have permissions to "manage users and permissions".

Group by address information like city and state in Dashboards

Previously this wasn't possible to do in a dashboard graph, and we're happy to open up this ability to more easily access geographical and territory information like this in dashboards.

Full control over Outcome information

With process events and automation, you previously had access to all kinds of tools and settings to ensure the right information gets passed from a qualified prospect to the sales project it would create. Or when you win a sales project and create an Account Growth project. Now you can do this with the "main outcome" as well. Control what fields you want to bring over, what document categories like agreements and such you want to smoothly hand over, among many other useful workflow improvements that are now possible. You'll find this new capability in the "Outcome" tab in the prospecting and sales project process editor.

Total access to relationship fields in conditions and automation

Relationship fields are a powerful way to connect a deal to the right channel partner, a specific territory plan, a supplier, or anything else that has a prominent part in your sales strategy. Now you can build on those relationships and use it as conditions and show or hide information on an Account Growth project, set in special rules or events, and more.

Just to share some ideas:

  • On a customer-centric Account Growth Project, you can now show a section that is specific Channel Partner that may have unique aspects in how you collaborate.
  • When a strategic partner creates a new prospect or sales project, you can send a process event for specifically when that happens to Teams, Slack or right inside of Membrain Guide.
  • When a new opportunity is created and grows the pipeline for a specific territory or annual account plan, send a nudge to the sales manager or to the entire team as a fun booster!

These additions all enable entirely new dimensions of what you can do with Membrain, and we're excited to see what you're going to do with these capabilities in your sales processes.

Account Growth Starting Dates can now live in the future!

Update on December 7, 2023 by Henrik Öquist

Membrain's Account Growth is a massively powerful set of tools that allows you to manage everything from on-going strategic accounts, annual account plans, active contracts, customer success management and so much more.

Future Starting Dates in Account Growth

Ever since its launch we have been impressed and inspired by all the various uses that our customers have found for this capability.

One thing that we - until now - haven't been able to support in an elegant way, is when you have that little gap between "today" and when an Account Growth project should effectively activate.

This is great for things like:
💡 Annual Account plans that you can now start to work on in Nov/Dec ahead of the new year.
💡 Those big contracts you win that start their term a few months after the signature was done
💡 That upcoming delivery project that you're coordinating with operations on and want to ensure good internal resource management.
💡 That new territory plan that kicks into gear in the new year! Have everything good to go so that your team can pick up the phone right away with everything already put carefully in the right place.

Naturally, there are so many ways this can be used, and we are excited to see what you'll be able to do with it. While the start day is in the future, the Account Growth project will be in a new status, "Planned". It will automatically switch to "Open" when the start date is due. You can use this new status to filter on these projects, visualize them in a dashboard and much more.

This, and many other, additions and improvements to Membrain is a direct result of the awesome feedback that we are getting from our partners and our customers. We want Membrain to get better every single release, giving you the very best conditions to boost your sales effectiveness at every turn. Your feedback is crucial to make sure we achieve that ambition. So thank you, and do keep it coming!

Easily Create Follow-up Tasks

Update on December 5, 2023 by Henrik Öquist

The meetings we have with our existing and prospective customers are the most important activities we do in sales. Easily Create Follow-up Tasks

While emails, phone calls, messages on LinkedIn and more are powerful when used right, nothing beats an actual conversation either in person or over Zoom/Teams. It's the best way we can engage multiple stakeholders, both inside our organization and on the customer side in a real-time exchange.

When we do engage in this meetings, we commonly identify next steps and tasks that need to be done following a discovery call, a call where we are trying to identify and minimize perceived barriers for a decision and similar.

Now you can easily create those follow-up tasks right inside of the appointment itself! With just a few keystrokes you can now create a structured plan for the next steps after an important meeting, without even leaving the context you're in.

Naturally we wanted to make sure this capability was also available elsewhere where it may be useful, so you can now actually have sub-tasks in Tasks, and use the same capability in Notes in Membrain. We hope this will make it easier than ever to ensure nothing slips through the cracks and give your customers a top-notch buying experience.
