Custom Metrics

  1. Membrain Elevate includes the ability to define and utilize Custom Metrics. Custom Metrics provide flexibility for tracking performance indicators tailored to your organization’s unique needs.

    Setting Up Custom Metrics

To begin using Custom Metrics, navigate to System Setup - Analytics & Reporting - Custom Metrics. This is where you can create the metrics that are relevant to your business processes.

For example, for more specific needs such as "Total Company Revenue" or "Customer Acquisition Cost," Custom Metrics offer a versatile solution. To create a new custom metric:

    1. Click "New" in the top right corner of the Custom Metrics screen.
    2. Provide a name for the metric.
    3. Select the resolution. Daily resolution suits metrics that require frequent updates. Weekly resolution is ideal for metrics that need to be tracked on a broader basis, such as weekly sales or activities. Monthly resolution is best for metrics with less frequent updates or more aggregate data, like monthly revenue. Keep in mind the resolution cannot be changed after it's been set.
    4. Choose a goal category (Outcomes, Effectiveness, or Activities).
    5. Save the new custom metric.
Note: Even if your goal for the metric is quarterly, you can select "monthly" resolution in custom metrics and set a quarterly goal on the metric in the Goals section (explained below).

Populating Custom Metrics

Custom Metrics can be populated in three ways: manually, via the API, or through Import. Manual entry allows for direct input of data into the system. For more automated and integrated data management, the API can be used to connect with other systems. The Import function facilitates the bulk uploading of metric values, making it easy to transfer large data sets. To learn more about importing Custom Metrics you can do so here

Utilizing the Values Editor

The Values Editor is designed for inputting historical data for your metrics. You can edit a value by clicking directly on it, and the system will automatically save the values when you leave the cell. For efficient navigation within the Values Editor, use Ctrl + Arrow Keys to move between cells, and Ctrl + Shift + Arrow Left/Right to navigate between pages.

Setting Goals on Custom Metrics

Once your custom metrics are defined, you can set goals for these metrics at different levels within your organization. Goals can be assigned to individual users, teams, or set as Organizational benchmarks. To learn more about Goal setting take a look at our article on that here.

Tracking and Visualizing Metrics

Membrain Elevate offers several ways to track and visualize your custom metrics if they are attached to goals. In the Dashboard, you can create dynamic performance graphs that provide clear visual representations of data trends and goal progress. This helps you quickly identify areas of success and those needing attention.

For tracking on a user level, Membrain Elevate provides multiple views. The Performance Tab in Membrain Elevate gives an overall perspective of goal progress and performance analytics. The My Goals Overlay allows users to monitor their individual progress against set targets, while the Performance View offers a detailed analysis of how users or teams are performing relative to their metrics.

To ensure accurate tracking of your metrics, Custom Metric Check-Ins are also accessible in Membrain Elevate. This feature simplifies the process of logging past data, making it easier to keep metrics accurate and up-to-date.

Navigate to the My Elevate view, click on the Performance Tab and scroll down to the "Open Check-In" button.

  • Membrain Guide Notifications

Sales leaders and team members can as well log Custom Metric Check-Ins directly from Membrain Guide notifications. These notifications direct the users to the Check-In dialog, allowing for quick and easy entry of metric values for past dates. This is particularly useful for metrics measured on a weekly or monthly.

The Check-In Dialog allows users to enter data for past periods, ensuring metrics remain complete.

Once data is saved, users can instantly track their progress towards goals, with date spans automatically updated to reflect the new entries.

By utilizing notifications for Custom Metric Check-Ins, organizations can ensure key metrics are consistently logged, minimizing the risk of missing critical updates and providing a reliable view of performance.
