New Leadership Structure to Guide Membrain Into Its Next Evolution

    New Call-to-action

I’m excited to announce substantial recent changes to the way our leadership is structured at Membrain.

Since our founding in 2012, I have been both the founder and the CEO of our company, as well as its face and voice. As such, I have been ultimately responsible for all strategic decision-making, as well as guiding and growing the company as seemed best to me, with input from my leadership team.

As of March 2024, I am proud to announce that we have made substantial changes to this structure, to support our growth into the next level. Here are the two big changes we’ve made, and why.

    Henrik is Now Co-CEO

My long-time right-hand man and Head of Product, Henrik Öquist, has taken the helm beside me as co-CEO and Chief Product Officer.

In this dual role, Henrik will retain his focus on our product, while I continue to hold the vision and thought leadership for the company. Henrik will become the voice of the company internally, tending to our culture, enhancing leadership presence within the company, and ensuring that products are developed in alignment with our vision.

Between us, Henrik and I will retain a clear delineation of responsibilities, allowing each of us to leverage our passions and strengths for the benefit of Membrain, our partners, and our customers.

    My role continues to include:

    • Remaining the external face and voice of the company
    • Setting vision, mission, and strategy
    • Managing technological infrastructure
    • Competitive landscape analysis
    • Overseeing our finances

    Henrik’s role now encompasses:

    • Becoming the internal voice of the company
    • Defining annual goals and accountability
    • Leading and supporting the team
    • Executing strategic initiatives
    • Tending to compensation, team growth, and retention
    • Minimizing complexity

At Membrain we have never been afraid to challenge the mainstream. As such, we are not afraid to implement this unusual and forward-thinking leadership structure. Statistically, companies with co-CEOs show higher growth rates. On a more personal note, Henrik and I have worked together for over a decade. We know each other’s strengths and weaknesses, we share a vision, and we complement each other. Having him take on more of the internal leadership is the right move for us.

Henrik, empowered to truly take ownership of the co-CEO role, is exactly what this company needs to move into the future and take on the sales industry leadership we have always striven for.

Nina is Now Head of Operations

Our Head of People Growth, Nina Werner, is now also our Head of Operations. In her dual role, Nina will be responsible for making sure that the vision and strategy of the company is executed on, both structurally and on a day-to-day basis.

She has taken on this role informally almost since she joined the team in 2021. She has served as our “keeper of culture,” makes sure everyone on the leadership team knows what they’re supposed to be doing, and ensures that nothing falls through the cracks.

Now she is formally empowered to continue and expand her role in operations, in alignment with our vision and strategy.

As Membrain continues to grow, having strong leadership at the levels of strategic execution and operational management will strengthen our position in the market and our ability to serve our partners and customers.

In short, Henrik’s voice and hand at the highest level of the organization and Nina’s leadership in people and operations will take us to the next level, and I’m excited to be a part of this unfolding.
