Data Import Requirement Form - explained

This article should be used to help you fill out the form Membrain Data Import Service - Understanding your Requirements and explains the questions and options therein.

Question 1 - What type of data will be imported?

The import functions in Membrain is divided into different data categories. Based on the data you are currently working with and will need to get started, migrate over and/or have access to in Membrain. From the multiselect list, select the types of data you need us to import.

• Companies - names of all businesses that you have or want to have a relationship with and relevant information about them, like Visiting and Billing Addresses, Website, Industry, Company Description et cetera.
• Contacts - people working at the Companies you want to import. Regardless if it’s people you might already have relationships with, or if they might be people that you want to connect with in the future.
• Prospects/Leads - leads that have not yet qualified to be potential opportunities.
• Sales Projects/Opportunities - active, lost and won opportunities in your sales pipeline going back about 3 years.
• Account Growth - Strategic Account Plans, Channel Partners, Customer Success Journeys etc. Projects for active existing/current customers with the focus to build and grow the relationship.
• Products - as they relate to your active or historical Sales Projects / Opportunities.
• Activities (Notes / Tasks / Appointments) - historical notes, planned and completed tasks, historical and scheduled appointments going back about 3 years.

Question 2 - What sources will the data come from?

Select one or more options that best describes where the data you need to import is coming from. 

• CRM/ERP
• In-house Spreadsheet
• Outlook
• Other

Question 3 - Additional data source information

Please describe what type of data comes from what source. This is especially relevant if you have picked multiple data sources, or 'Other' option, in the question above.

Question 4 - What is the estimated size of the data to be imported?

For optimal assessment of your data import requirements we need a rough estimate of how large your spreadsheets are (i.e. how many Rows + Columns in your spreadsheets that are populated by information). Based on the size of your most populated spreadsheet (for example your Company, Contact or Activity data), select the most suitable option.

• Less than 10,000 cells (approx 5 columns/2000 rows)
• 10,000 - 50,000 cells (approx 10 columns/5000 rows)
• More than 50,000 cells

To calculate how many cells you have click the top left corner of your spreadsheet to select all

and in the bottom right corner you can then see the count of all selected cells

You can also provide more context in the 'Please share any other relevant information you feel is important' text box at the bottom of the questionnaire.

Question 5 - What resources are available for data preparation?

When you have data you need to import during the ClearPath project one of the first meetings you will have is a Data Planning Session with Membrain’s Data Migration Specialise. During this meeting we will go through your raw import files together and discuss the details of the data. During this meeting the Data Migration Specialist will give you advice on things that might need clean-up, concatenations, formatting and so on.

The customer is ultimately responsible for making sure that their data is conforming to import functionality in Membrain and to the Data Migration Specialists advice, for optimal import quality. If you need help performing formatting and cleansing of the data, Membrain can provide the resources to help out through optional and additional Data Cleansing Services.

• We have internal resources to prep the files - if you have the internal resources and ability to prep your data yourself in accordance to the advice given by Membrain’s Data Migration Specialist
• We need Membrain's Data Cleansing Services - if you need our help performing the prep in accordance to the advice given by Membrain’s Data Migration Specialist
