Using Revenue Splits in Sales Projects

What Are Revenue Splits?

Revenue Splits allow you to distribute deal value among multiple internal stakeholders within a Sales Project. This enables accurate commission allocation and performance tracking—particularly valuable in team-based or complex sales environments. It supports transparency, collaboration, and fairness, especially where multiple contributors play a role in closing business.

When to Use Revenue Splits

Use Revenue Splits when:

  • Multiple team members contribute to a deal

  • Sales leaders need precise commission data

  • You want to reinforce collaborative selling

  • You’re aligning compensation with contribution

By clearly defining how revenue is divided, teams are better motivated, and leadership gains deeper insight into performance drivers.

How to Enable Revenue Splits

The Revenue Splits feature is disabled by default. To activate it, navigate to:

  1. System Setup > your Sales Process > Settings

  2. Turn on the Allow Revenue Split toggle and press Save.

  3. Remember to Publish your process so the changes you just made get implemented.

Note: You need to enable this feature for each process individually where you want it to apply.

Adding & Editing Revenue Splits

Once Revenue Splits are enabled in the sales process of your choice, you will be able to add and edit revenue splits within each individual sales project. Follow these simple steps.

  1. Go to a Sales Project
  2. Click into the "Value" field
  3. Click on "Add Revenue Split"
  4. In the Revenue Split Editor, you may assign and adjust revenue distribution among eligible users, i.e. ones that are added as internal stakeholders in your sales project. Click on the + Add Internal Stakeholders button to select users.

Example: In our sales project, Zoe Saldana is the Owner and Daniel Day-Lewis is added as Internal Stakeholder, thus he will be eligible to be added in the revenue split dialog.

  5. Explicit percentages can be applied to users, and the total split must equal 100% to be able to save your changes.
Note: The Project Owner is always included and cannot be removed, but they can be assigned 0%.

Considerations:

  • Only Internal Stakeholders who are Full Users (not Lite Users) can be added.
  • Ineligible users will be grayed out with explanations.
  • If the project Owner is changed after splits are assigned, the new Owner automatically inherits the previous Owner's share. If the user is already listed, this will result in them appearing twice inside the revenue split dialog. This is purely visual and does not affect data integrity.

Visualizing Revenue Splits

You can view Revenue Splits:

  • By hovering over the Value field or the split icon next to it.

  • In the Activity Stream, where changes are logged for full transparency.
